Body massage is used to relieve tension, to relax or invigorate. Aches and muscle tension can be relieved by the application of deep tissue and Swedish massage, a specific massage system based on the research and work of Per Henrik Ling.
Sports and Remedial Massage
This deep massage to the underlying muscle layers of the body is used to relieve aches and muscle tension following periods of intense physical activity. It can also be used prior to exercise and sport to help condition the muscles, and can be used to aid recovery or as part of a long term training plan.
This massage treatment focuses not only on those muscle systems used in athletic activities, but also on muscles used in any physical activities, for example gardening, lifting, standing for long periods of time at work etc. It can combine Swedish style massage with trigger point compression and neuro-muscular techniques to reduce soreness and help to enhance power, endurance and flexibility.
Some conditions and disorders are not suitable for massage treatment, e.g. thrombosis. Other conditions, such as heart or circulatory disease may be treated, but may need specific approval from your GP. If you have an unspecified condition which has been causing you discomfort/pain, it may be advisable to seek a medical diagnosis prior to your visit in order that the appropriate therapy may be applied.
